WHO WE ARE

Gun Sense SC is a fast-growing, diverse group of South Carolinians working hard to decrease gun violence by educating, building awareness about gun safety and supporting bipartisan legislation for thorough background checks to address this public health crisis. We support the 2nd Amendment right of citizens to legally possess firearms but want to close the loopholes that allow 40% of purchases to occur without a background check and guns to keep falling into the wrong hands.

We are gun owners and non-gun owners. We are veterans and teachers, attorneys and doctors, social workers and spiritual leaders. While our group was galvanized by the tragedy at Emanuel AME Church, we are propelled by the 650 South Carolinians who die every year due to gun violence. Together, we’ll make South Carolina a safer place to live, attend school and worship.
